Farley Chairman, Farley Industries Featured Topic  Who Will Lead Your Company Next?    Many organizations look strong from the outside. The business is growing, senior leaders are experienced, and new talent keeps joining.   Then the company begins planning a leadership change and discovers a serious problem.   No one is ready to take over.   This is the Management Void. It happens when a company does not have enough people prepared to become its next generation of leaders.   The Missing Group The problem often becomes clear when a company looks at how long its employees have worked there.   At one end are senior employees with 15 or 20 years of experience. Many hold important positions and know the business very well.   At the other end are employees who joined during the past one to three years. They may have great potential, but they still need time to understand the company, its clients, and its culture.   What is missing is the group between them. There may be very few employees with seven, ten, or twelve years of experience who are ready to take on greater responsibility.   The company has experienced leaders and promising new talent, but no strong leadership bench connecting them.   Why This Matters Senior leaders will eventually retire, move into new roles, or leave the company. When this happens, the organization may discover that no one inside is ready to replace them.   The most difficult question is often:   Who will become the next CEO?   Hiring an outside leader may be necessary, but it brings risks. A new executive must learn the business, understand its culture, build trust, and develop important relationships.   Without a clear successor, the company may become even more dependent on its current leaders.   A Barrier to Growth The Management Void is common in family-owned companies going through the Adolescence stage of the Adizes Organizational Lifecycle.   During this stage, the company becomes more professional. The founder begins to share authority, roles become clearer, and new systems are introduced.   This is an important step toward Prime, when the organization has both flexibility and control.   But a new structure is not enough. The company also needs people who are ready to make decisions and accept responsibility. Without them, the organization may struggle to delegate, replace key leaders, or continue growing.   How to Close the Gap Four actions can help: Keep your best people. Identify employees with leadership potential and give them opportunities to grow. Know who could step in. For every important role, understand who could take over now and who could become ready with further development. Share important knowledge. Make sure key processes, lessons, and relationships do not remain only in the minds of senior leaders. Keep developing new talent. Bring in promising people and give them the support and experience they need to become future leaders. Build Leadership Before It Is Needed Successful organizations do more than hire talented people. They continue developing leaders at every level.   Ignoring the Management Void can create a leadership crisis.   Experienced executives leave, valuable knowledge is lost, and no one is ready to take responsibility.   Finding the gap early gives the company time to develop people, share knowledge, and prepare future leaders.   Leadership continuity does not happen by accident. It must be built.     The Adizes Institute supports family businesses, corporations, public institutions, and other organizations with the tools and concepts needed to strengthen leadership and prepare for change. We empower organizations to lead the implementation of rapid change without destructive conflict, while achieving sustainable and exceptional results.   Source: From Dr. Adizes’ Blog: The Management Void (Article by Adizes Institute Senior Associate Juan José Flores) News and Updates Supporting Education Leaders in Lithuania   The Adizes Methodology is not limited to companies. Its tools can support any organization that must manage change, align people, and produce meaningful results.   In Lithuania, Adizes Institute lecturer Erika Pipynienė recently spent two days working with the team at Lietuvos Junior Achievement.   The organization helps schools teach financial literacy and entrepreneurship from the earliest grades. Its team strongly believes every child can learn, create, and take action.   During the sessions, participants explored several important areas of the Adizes Methodology. These included change management, organizational roles, management styles, the Organizational Lifecycle, decision-making, conflict, feedback, and the Adizes success formula.   These concepts are just as important in education as they are in business. Education organizations must respond to change, manage limited resources, coordinate people with different responsibilities, and keep everyone focused on a common purpose. As they grow, they also need better ways to make decisions and turn those decisions into action.   The sessions showed how practical management tools can help a mission-driven team become stronger and more effective. When people understand their roles, respect different working styles, and know how to manage conflict, they can work together with greater trust and clarity.   This work in Lithuania is another example of the Adizes Methodology's global reach. Across countries and sectors, the same basic challenge remains: how to manage change while keeping people united around a shared purpose.  When Values and Targets Collide   It is easy for an organization to follow its values when business is going well.   The real test comes when targets become difficult to reach.   Zvezdan Horvat, Adizes Institute Senior Associate, recently explored this challenge in an article about organizational integrity under performance pressure. His work examines four well-known cases involving Volkswagen, Boeing, Siemens, and Magyar Telekom.   The companies operated in different industries and faced different problems. Yet their experiences point to a similar lesson.   Formal policies are not enough to protect an organization.   A company may have clear values, codes of conduct, and control systems. But these tools have little effect if employees fear sharing bad news, questioning a decision, or stopping an action that could harm the organization.   Integrity depends on how the organization actually works.   Can truthful information reach senior management? Can professionals challenge decisions they believe are wrong? Can the organization correct its course when pressure is high?   The answers depend on the company’s structure, authority, accountability, and decision-making process. If people are expected to deliver results but are not allowed to raise concerns, the system may quietly reward performance at any cost.   Leaders therefore need to look beyond written policies. They must create an environment where people can speak openly, where responsibility is clear, and where difficult information is treated as valuable rather than dangerous.   Strong values must be supported by the way the organization makes and carries out decisions. When values and targets collide, the organization's design often determines which one wins.   At the Adizes Institute, we help organizations build the structures, processes, and leadership practices needed to manage pressure and change without destructive conflict. This helps them protect their purpose while achieving sustainable, exceptional results.  Read the complete research article Preparing Future Leaders at the University of Belgrade   A new group of students from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Organizational Sciences has completed an academic leadership course based on the Adizes Methodology.   The students will gather in Belgrade for a certificate ceremony celebrating their achievement and the growing cooperation between the University and the Adizes Institute.   This initiative represents more than completing a course. It gives future professionals an opportunity to understand organizations before they enter positions of authority.   Students explored how organizations grow, why problems appear, how management styles affect teamwork, and how leaders can make better decisions. They also learned that effective leadership does not depend on one person having all the answers. It requires different perspectives, mutual trust, and a shared sense of purpose.   Introducing these ideas at the university level allows students to develop a deeper understanding of leadership before they face the pressure of managing teams and organizations.   The initiative also connects academic learning with practical management tools. These students are not only preparing to enter the business world. They are preparing to help build healthier and more effective organizations.   We congratulate the students and recognize the faculty members who guided them, including Professor Mladen Čudanov and Professor Miloš Jevtić.   The Adizes Institute is proud to support the development of future leaders and looks forward to further collaboration with the University of Belgrade Faculty of Organizational Sciences.   The Adizes Community Comes Together in India This Month    The wait is almost over.   From October 21 to 25, the global Adizes community will gather at Kanha Shanti Vanam in India for the 51st Adizes Institute International Convention.   This year’s theme, Celebrating Legacy. Inspiring the Future, reflects a special moment for our community. We will celebrate the 89th year of Dr. Ichak Adizes while exploring the ideas, challenges, and opportunities shaping the future of leadership and management.   The Convention will bring together Adizes Associates, business owners, CEOs, senior executives, practitioners, and leaders from countries and industries worldwide.   The experience begins on October 21 with a dedicated program for Adizes Associates, including case presentations, peer exchange, faculty sessions, and certifications.   On October 22 and 23, the Change Champion Days will open the conversation to the public. Participants will explore the Adizes Methodology, its relationship with Heartfulness, and its practical use in leading change.   From October 23 to 25, the CEO Leadership Summit will bring together founders, owners, and senior leaders to discuss the future of management, artificial intelligence, organizational transformation, communication, personal wellbeing, and responsible leadership.   The program will also include practical business stories, new book presentations, executive discussions, and examples of organizations applying the Adizes Methodology around the world.   More than an event, the Convention is a place to exchange experiences, build relationships, and think together about the future of healthier organizations.   We invite members of the Adizes community to share this opportunity with their clients, colleagues, and professional networks. Leaders from different backgrounds will make the discussions richer and introduce more organizations to the principles of mutual trust and respect, constructive conflict, and sustainable change.   Join us in India this month as we celebrate the Adizes Institute's legacy and continue building its future together.   October 21 to 25, 2026 Kanha Shanti Vanam, India Register for the Adizes Institute International Convention Upcoming Events The Foundational Challenge Training    The Foundational Challenge Training is a 4-day live online program focused on improving how teams solve problems and move work forward.
